Chemistry Instruction for the Next Generation

Evidence indicates that using student-centered methods of teaching chemistry results in a higher level of understanding for the students. Moving from traditional teaching methods to inquiry driven curriculum does not occur overnight and significant barriers to making the transition exist for both teachers and students. Next generation teaching standards such as AP Chemistry and Next Generation Science Standards have an increased emphasis on inquiry. Chemistry Instruction for the Next Generation endeavors to provide a forum for discussing how we can best overcome these barriers to provide better outcomes for our students.
